  • United Healthcare

  • And many others—ask about yours!

What You Need to Know

  • Copay/Coinsurance: You pay your copay at each session. I'll bill your insurance for the rest.
  • Deductible: Your deductible may apply. I can verify your benefits before we start.
  • Pre-Authorization: Some plans require prior authorization. I'll handle this for you.
  • Confidentiality: I'll use diagnosis codes required by insurance but keep your information secure.

Insurance Benefits & Deductibles

Before your first session, I recommend calling your insurance company to ask:

  • • What's my mental health copay?
  • • Have I met my deductible?
  • • Is Elena Hartwell, LPC, in-network?
  • • How many sessions are covered per year?
  • • Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?

I'm happy to verify your benefits for you. Just call or email with your insurance information, and I'll get the details so there are no surprises.

Out-of-Network / No Insurance

If your insurance doesn't cover my services or you're uninsured, you can still receive therapy at my regular rates or on a sliding scale. Some insurance companies provide "out-of-network" benefits, and you can submit a receipt for reimbursement. Ask your insurance about this option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get an insurance receipt if I don't have insurance?

Yes! Even without insurance, I can provide an itemized receipt with my NPI number. You can submit this to your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits, and they may reimburse you for a portion of the cost.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

Absolutely. If cost is a barrier to treatment, let's discuss it. I offer sliding scale fees on a case-by-case basis based on your income and financial situation. No one should be turned away due to financial hardship.

Do you offer a package or discounted rates?

I don't offer prepayment packages, but I'm flexible with pricing arrangements. If you're interested in long-term therapy, we can discuss your needs and see if there are ways to make it more affordable.
